Function description
The Yaskawa SGMGS-05A5W-SE12 is a three-phase permanent-magnet synchronous servo motor of the Sigma-V series. It delivers a rated torque of 2.86 N·m at 450 W output power. The construction consists of a laminated stator with distributed windings, a high-energy magnet rotor with low inertia, precise rolling bearings and an integrated encoder (UTSAH-B17BE), which provides incremental and absolute signals. Brakes (24 V DC) and sealing systems are optionally available. The matching servo amplifier SGDK-050505AEA-V controls current, torque, speed and position via vector-based control and processes feedback signals from the encoder. It includes protection functions such as overcurrent, overtemperature and communication monitoring, as well as a regenerative braking stage for energy recovery. This system ensures precise movements in machine tools, robots and packaging systems.
Alarms & Troubleshooting
| Drive-Code | Alarm / Description | Possible cause | Solution / Action |
|---|
| 0x10 (16) | Overcurrent (short-circuit current) | Short circuit in the motor circuit or excessive acceleration | Check motor cable, reduce acceleration, test drive |
| 0x11 (17) | Ground fault | Insulation failure or moisture in the motor connection box | Perform insulation measurement, clean, dry |
| 0x14 (20) | Motor overcurrent | Mechanical blockage or overload | Check mechanics, reduce load, adjust ramps |
| 0x30 (48) | Regeneration error | Regeneration resistor defective or incorrectly dimensioned | Check resistor, ensure cooling |
| 0x41 (65) | Undervoltage | Voltage drop in the mains or mains filter error | Stabilize power supply, check wiring |
| 0x51 (81) | Overspeed (motor) | Incorrect setpoints or encoder error | Check setpoints, check encoder cable |
| 0x53 (83) | Excessive speed deviation | Controller parameters unsuitable, encoder signal interference | Adjust P/I controller, check encoder connection |
| 0x72 (114) | Overload (continuous load) | Motor overloaded for too long | Reduce load, adjust duty cycle |
| 0x98 (152) | Motor overheating (warning) | Too high ambient temperature or ventilation blocked | Improve cooling, let motor cool down |
| 0xC5 (197) | Error during motor pole detection | Encoder or parameter error | Check motor parameters, re-initialize encoder |
Typical applications
- CNC machine tools (e.g. Star, Matsuura)
- Industrial robots and pick-and-place systems
