Yaskawa SGMEV-08DDA6C: “Great, Installed and Running”

“Great, installed and running
😉

Happy to use your services again.”

Customer from North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, commenting on the repair of a Yaskawa SGMEV-08DDA6C servomotor

Brief, personal and encouraging: this was the feedback our customer sent after reinstalling the motor. The repaired motor is running again, and we were particularly pleased to hear that they would happily use our services again.

Machine Stopped During Operation

Two Yaskawa SGMEV-08DDA6C servomotors work together in tandem in the customer’s machine. During machining, the machine would stop. The behaviour appeared to indicate an overload, although the customer already suspected an encoder fault.

To help identify the cause, the customer sent us both motors for inspection. Testing confirmed the suspicion in one motor: its encoder was cutting out intermittently.

Our Repair

We replaced the faulty encoder, then programmed and adjusted the new encoder to match the motor. As part of a complete overhaul, we also dismantled and cleaned the motor, replaced its bearings and seals as a preventive measure, and cleaned and adjusted the existing brake. Finally, we tested the overhauled motor under load on our Yaskawa test bench.

Feedback After Reinstallation

After reinstalling the motor, the customer confirmed: “Great, installed and running.” This provided positive feedback on its operation back in the customer’s machine.

Thank you for your trust and your kind words!
