What could be so important about a small 200-watt servo pack that it is still being repaired today?
We are talking about the Yaskawa AC servo pack SGDH-02AE-OY, a compact but highly precise drive component from the proven Sigma-II series. Although Yaskawa itself discontinued this model years ago and no longer offers factory repairs, the demand remains high – and for good reason.
Several years ago, one of the largest mechanical engineering companies in Europe faced a seemingly unsolvable problem: in several of its plants, this exact servo pack reliably performed its service – until it suddenly failed more frequently. The obvious solution would have been a retrofit, but the customer wanted to maintain the original condition. Spare units were still in stock, so they looked for service providers who could guarantee a high-quality overhaul.
The reality was sobering. Around half of the overhauled devices no longer worked after months of storage. The reasons? In some cases, the devices were never actually repaired, and in others, the installed components were of questionable quality. Some suppliers had even outsourced the repair without disclosing this. Externally, everything looked good – but internally, it was often a botch job.
The challenge:
Quality in repair The customer finally turned to us – initially skeptical. Our repairs were checked, tested, and questioned. And they passed. Today, we regularly service numerous servo packs of various types for this company – with the highest level of satisfaction. Why? Because we take craftsmanship seriously. Because quality and transparency are not an option for us, but a standard.
Our preventive measures for the repair of an SGDH-02AE-OY include:
+ Replacement of all defective and worn components
+ Thorough internal and external cleaning
+ Extensive tests under full load conditions
+ Parameter check and, if necessary, restoration Complete documentation and checklists
Conclusion: Even small components can have a big impact. And true quality isn’t reflected in the shine of the casing – but in the reliability during operation. That’s exactly what we stand for.

What does the SGDH-02AE-OY actually do?
The SGDH-02AE-OY is a servo amplifier from Yaskawa’s Sigma-II series. With an output of 200 watts, it is ideal for precise positioning tasks in small axes, such as in packaging, textile, electronics, or machining equipment. It controls AC servomotors with high dynamics and allows for precise regulation of position, speed, and torque – even in continuous operation. Typical applications include:
- Automated production systems
- Pick-and-place systems
- Labeling and cutting machines
- Small part manufacturing and laboratory automation
Small and inconspicuous – but essential for the process.
