Okuma VACIII D6: “The Lathe Is Working Now”
“The lathe is working now.”
“That’s a good job.”
Excerpts from the customer’s feedback.
Customer from France commenting on the purchase of a refurbished Okuma VACIII D6 drive unit from industrypart
Not every unit sent to us can be reliably repaired. In this case, we received an Okuma VACIII D6 drive unit that had already undergone extensive repair attempts. Together with our customer, a machine service company in France, we found a solution: a fully refurbished unit from our stock.
Previous Repair Attempts Complicated the Assessment
During our inspection, we identified a short circuit in the phase V IGBT module. The affected module had already been replaced. There were also clear signs of previous work on other components and circuit sections.
These interventions made the condition of the drive difficult to assess. Another repair attempt would have required additional work, with an uncertain outcome. We therefore offered the customer a refurbished unit for purchase.
Refurbished, Adapted and Tested in Our Okuma CNC Machine
The unit we supplied had been fully overhauled. This included cleaning and the preventive replacement of capacitors and the fan. To adapt it to the existing machine, we transferred the EPROM containing the original settings.
We then tested the drive in our Okuma CNC machine with its original control system. We recorded the final test run on video and shared it with our customer.
Customer Feedback: The Lathe Is Back in Operation
When we followed up later, the customer confirmed that their end customer’s lathe was working again. We were pleased to receive their positive feedback on our work.
This case shows how a refurbished and tested replacement unit can provide a practical solution when a reliable repair of the original drive is no longer foreseeable.
Thank you for your trust and cooperation!
