Mitsubishi MDS-C1-SP-220 with Alarm 32 from Mazak Machine Under Repair
A Mitsubishi spindle drive unit, model MDS-C1-SP-220, operating with the spindle motor Mitsubishi SJ-VL22-02ZT, was delivered to us with Alarm 32. According to the customer, the unit came from a Mazak CNC machine that has been in operation for over a decade.
Long-Term Service by Mazak
Until now, the customer had always relied on official Mazak service, with which they were completely satisfied. However, due to extended lead times for this particular drive unit, they looked for an alternative solution a professional repair.

The company follows a strict and environmentally conscious maintenance strategy. The goal is not only to reduce costs, but also to prepare for an ISO environmental certification. Machines are cleaned regularly, fans are maintained, and preventive overhauls are carried out on schedule. Diagnosis: Alarm 32 Power Module Error (Overcurrent)
During the first test in our facility, the reported Alarm 32 was immediately confirmed. This alarm indicates a fault in the IPM (Intelligent Power Module), often caused by short circuits or overvoltage due to thermal stress or component aging.
Fault Repair and Component Replacement
Our technicians opened the unit and quickly located the issue on the power board. The IPM components showed clear signs of thermal damage. We proceeded to replace the damaged modules, as well as capacitors, IGBTs, and gate drivers that could no longer guarantee stable operation.
Our Preventive Standard Repair
After eliminating the direct fault, we carried out a complete preventive overhaul, which includes:
- Replacing all age-sensitive components
- Checking and replacing cooling fans
- Cleaning and resoldering the control and power boards
- Functional check of signal inputs and feedback circuits
- Detection of thermal hotspots using infrared imaging
- Extended load test under simulated machine operation
Each unit is finally tested under full load to ensure flawless performance under real production conditions.
Machine Running Smoothly Again, Follow-Up Orders Confirmed
The repaired spindle drive unit has now been running for more than a week without any issues. The customer expressed high satisfaction with the service quality, communication, and process transparency.
We have already received additional drives and a servo motor from the same customer for repair. A reliable, efficient, and sustainable partnership has begun.
