Okuma MPS60 / 1006-2204: alarm 1154-11 repaired
1154-11 ALARM-A MCS Power-Supply-Unit Error: An Okuma MPS60 power supply from the 1006-2204 family arrived at industrypart with this reported fault. Inspection identified defective load capacitors and damaged components in the power stage. The unit was heavily contaminated with oil and dirt, and one fan was barely turning.
Workshop findings: electronics and cooling
The reported alarm was the starting point for diagnosis. Inspection established which components were defective. Load capacitors and several power-stage components required replacement. Contamination and the barely turning fan were also recorded in the assessment.
The alarm text alone does not establish a single root cause. This report therefore focuses on the confirmed component defects and the condition of the unit.
Preventive overhaul based on repair experience
We replaced the defective parts and the components included in our preventive overhaul. Having repaired this model several times, we know its typical weak points.
Our preventive replacement includes both components that have reached their usual service life and additional parts that experience has shown to fail more frequently in this family. This work complements the repair of the immediate fault.
Extended testing on our test machine
After repair, the unit was tested for an extended period on our test machine. The video documents this test. The photographs show the condition before the work and views after overhaul.
