The Challenge: A Pre-Repaired Haas Vector Drive from Thailand
A renowned customer from Thailand sent us a Haas Vector Drive 20/15 HP 93-69-1000 for repair. Previously, he had commissioned local providers for repairs and was understandably skeptical: historically, only about 50% of repaired parts functioned reliably, many devices barely lasted beyond the warranty period, or required continuous rework.
Why We Made an Exception for a Pre-Repaired Device
Usually, we only conditionally accept pre-repaired devices. However, we made an exception in this case because we already knew the customer and had previously successfully repaired other components for him. Furthermore, he had no alternative, and we wanted to support him during this critical situation.
The Consequences of Amateurish Pre-Repair
Unfortunately, the device had been virtually “repaired to death” by the previous repair attempt. A photo clearly showed a large lead solder blob causing extensive short circuits on the circuit board. Several components were incorrectly soldered, entirely removed, or even installed with reversed polarity. This required us to perform extensive detective work.
Detailed Work and Reconstruction Using Specialized Software
Our experienced technicians carefully analyzed the damage and replaced faulty components step by step. With our specialized software, we documented each step in detail, enabling us to successfully reconstruct and restore the circuit board. In doing so, we also resolved the original fault.
Caution with Vector Drive Repairs
Our experience clearly indicates: Without comprehensive expert knowledge, it is advisable to avoid attempting repairs on Vector Drives. Faulty repair attempts greatly increase the risk of completely destroying the device. Furthermore, manufacturers often do not accept these pre-repaired units for exchanges, causing additional trouble for customers.
Standard Repairs – Extensive but Worthwhile
During a standard repair, we replace nearly 30 components, including capacitors (electrolytic capacitors and large buffer capacitors), optoelectronic parts, transistor modules, fans, and programmed ICs. Despite the seemingly enormous effort, this process is worthwhile due to our extensive experience, efficient automation, and detailed expertise of our staff.

Ask your service providers exactly what is done during the repair, which components are replaced, and what tests are performed. This helps you avoid unpleasant surprises and ensures your devices are genuinely repaired professionally.
